Forty women – readers, writers and travelers, wannabes and already haves – gathered tightly in the back of Books, Inc in San Francisco to absorb the travel tales of the editor and three contributors from the just published The Best Women’s Travel Writing 2011: True Stories from Around the World (Travelers’ Tales) as a part of the monthly San Francisco Travel Literature and Lecture Series.

Travel planning is half the fun and half the battle of getting your Big Trip going. It’s endless to do lists and things to “wrap up” and take care of and one more trip to Target. AND it’s glowing, wonderful anticipation of your travel dreams becoming a reality.

Here are my foundational, go to links that I use whenever I start to think TRIP and TRAVEL. I always recommend them to friends as a place to start after you know where you want to go and have a Big Trip forming in your head.

Here’s a list of links I’ve used to plan transport around the world. It’s heavy on flights and trains, since I’ve found that bus is usually easier to set up in country when one needs it.
